After 3 years of online dating on and off, I wondered whether it was possible I would find true love online. I work as a nurse and with the shift work and the profession mostly being made up of females as well as my love for love I thought let's give this online dating one more last chance. I had used a few other online dating sites in the past, but when discovering Christian Connection it was a sigh of relief! It was awesome being able to find people who were genuinely looking for a committed relationship. It was also a great opportunity with the profile info to share key things that matter to you and what another values as important before sending a wink of interest.
About 2 weeks into signing up I had a guy message me from a different city. The messages started as a paragraph, then became two and then became three until our messages grew to be like essays!
I suggested we called each other and that first phone call had been an hour and a half! It was so sweet being able to hear his voice. Not long after this phone call he decided to fly down to see me for lunch and our dating journey then began!
It was hard but also a sweet time doing long distance for about a year. Myself in Wellington and he in Auckland. We would take turns seeing each other every 3-4 weeks and talk most days. What was great about the year of long distance is that through the distance we built a solid friendship and that is what is most important in a future husband/wife is that you can be best friends and talk about anything.
At times I questioned my readiness to be in a relationship feeling I had so much to work on in myself! But in the process I realized you don't have to be all together to be in a relationship- and there is no such thing as being all together anyway!
I asked my Grandma, "how do you know when you have found the right person?" And her advice was.... "when it's all green lights"- this was such great advice! There may be some orange lights but as a whole if its mostly all green lights and no red lights then this could be the person for you! After almost 2 years of dating I moved up to Auckland and we got married last December 2018. This is a testament that you can find love online :)
